Tongue Piercing?

Hi, I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on getting your tongue pierced. I want to get it done, but my mom is not exactly ecstatic about it. What kind of image do you think it projects, where do you stand on it, etc... I want to know what everyone thinks... (Parents, teenagers, people that have had it done, etc....) My mom believes that, since I'm in Highschool, everyone will think that I perform ..... Thanks
